You've been GOOGLE'd

Google is not only an important part of Internet Search, it is also very important of branding yourself to your clients and potential employers. 72% of employers Google job candidates, much higher than the 44% that check Facebook Profiles.  You need to control the information that clients, customers and potential employers read about you. 72% of respondents said they would conduct a web search using the candidate’s name while 59% said they would look at a profile on LinkedIn.  For those of you with questionable content on your Facebook pages, take heart in that only 44% of prospective employers said they would look there.

  1. hi Anise good article. People forget how important it is to have a clean google profile as may people and institutions use it as a default search, to find out anything incrimination or unsavory. For example a friend of mines son put a picture of himself up on Facebook sitting on the loo. Its not the sort of this a potential employers wants to see and now he cant get rid of it.

    Thank you so much! I wanted to post because I wasn't sure how many people were aware that they could set up a free Google profile of themselves.

    I Google myself often because I like to see what others see WHEN they Google me. It has become so common now; However, I was honestly amazed that employers Google people at almost twice the rate that they check Facebook. That is astounding!

    That is unfortunate about your that kids loo picture. Once an image is on the Internet it is next to impossible to get rid of it.
