Search Engine Optimization vs Social Media Optimization
As usual, I welcome comments, good, bad ugly or indifferent on my Facebook Wallor in the comments section.Amplify’d from www.webmonkey.com
Microsoft has announced it will expand its effort to bring Facebook into Bing’s search results, displaying new annotations alongside any search result links your Facebook friends have liked. Bing first began integrating Facebook “likes” into its search results back in October 2010, but results from your friends were relegated to the bottom of the page. The new version promotes your friends up into the main search results listing.
Microsoft’s Bing offering is roughly the same thing with one huge difference — Bing includes results from Facebook, Google does not.
That’s a huge blind spot for Google given that Bing now has some 500 million Facebook users to pull social data from. At the same time, Google is pulling data from your Twitter friends, which is something Bing does not, thus far, offer. However, given the relatively open nature of Twitter versus the closed nature of Facebook, it will likely be easier for Bing to add Twitter, than for Google to add Facebook.
The best search engine choice depends, for now, on which social networks you use. Facebook fans will find Bing a better match, while those using a wide variety of services will probably see more results from Google Social Search.Read more at www.webmonkey.com

#iPad 2 for $124 #Gazelle
Amplify’d from www.fastcompany.com
How to Get an iPad 2 for $124 [Update: Hurry!]
Do the math. Gazelle is buying back old iPads, starting at $375. iPad 2s are $499. Also, Apple's quietly selling iPad 1s for $399 ($100 off). Here's where to find these deals, and the answer to the question, "Who the hell's Gazelle?"
The introduction of the iPad 2 leaves a slew of iPad owners with outdated devices in its wake. But there's no need to wallow in being left behind. Recommerce site Gazelle is attempting to drum up business by offering up to $595 for old iPads--so you can, in other words, practically trade in your old iPad for a new one.
Meanwhile, Apple is also offering $100 off the last generation of iPads. But rest assured that if you buy a new one, you'll probably be able to cash in on it when the iPad 3 comes out, thanks to Gazelle.
Gazelle's payouts start at $375 for the old iPad 16GB with Wi-Fi (retail: $499) and range up to $595 for the 64GB Wi-Fi+3G version (retail: $829). Prices will only stay at their current rate until Saturday tonight, when Gazelle lowers the cash payouts for each model. In the meantime, customers can simply sign up at Gazelle, ship their iPads to the company within 30 days (the deal expires after that), and get big bucks in return.
Read more at www.fastcompany.comUPDATE: Hurry! Gazelle just wrote this in a follow-up message to Fast Company: "In an unusual turn of events, Apple has dumped their iPad inventory into the used market, significantly swelling the supply and ultimately driving down prices. Gazelle will not be able to maintain the prices through Saturday, and they may even drop as early as tonight. They’re trying to hold out on them for as long as possible before it becomes a net negative offer."

Beware: Twitter worm , do not click!
Amplify’d from mashable.com
Tweet Viewer Worm Crawling Around Twitter
Be careful what you click on when you’re using Twitter, because there is a “Tweet Viewer” worm afoot.
Keep in mind that merely clicking on the link is not going to automatically authorize anything — that only happens if you click the Authorize button after clicking the link. So, like many viruses, worms and scams, you have to actively give it to yourself, rather than having it attack you as you stand by innocently.
The worm appears like this (notice the tweetviewer link):
Read more at mashable.comWhat to do if you’ve been caught up in this? It’s easy enough to go to Settings/Connection/Revoke Access, and then you’re free of it. Here’s the help page if you need more info. And now, link shortener Bit.ly has stopped the unpleasantness for now by blocking domains hosting those scam links. However, if the app you’re using to access Twitter still has permission to do so, it could keep spreading this nuisance with a different shortened link.

#QRCodes interesting response from video
http://www.Facebook.com/AniseSmithMarketing
Well as most know, I am a bit into #QRCodes , I find them very cool and I believe they have a potential to make a great impact on many industries. All of which I believe to be good.
I just got a response to a viewer of one of my QR code Videos that would most definitely beg to differ. We are in America that is allowed respected and welcomed as It opens the door to dialogue.
Direct Quote: "Wait till FEMA marks YOU with a QR ...without you knowing it. And then the FED's/Corporations read you everywhere. "You can see the actual comment here.
I must say that I've only had positive dialogue about QR codes with the exception of some concerns about privacy issues . I am very interested in your thoughts? What do you think? Does this statement hold some validity? Are we setting ourselves up for many unknowns by embracing this technology?
I always welcome comments on my Facebook Wall. Feel free to comment, good, bad, ugly or indifferent

YOU MUST check out #MyWebCareer.com MUST
I have found a LOT of resources online and I use most of them that I present. REALLY! I have to do a trial run of about 90% of the websites I recommend.
So I created a profile on MyWebCareer.com a while ago and forgot about it. However this morning one of my colleagues posted a link to his Facebook page that he had a great career score. So this gave me an opportunity to revisit the site. Well, I will tell you that you MUST USE THIS TO CHECK OUT YOUR ONLINE PRESENCE What was great about it was that it gave details about your online presence, not just a score. It let me know what comments I made on your Facebook page that could be viewed as negative, ( not that I have any LOL) in addition to information about my job history on LinkedIn.
I can't tell you enough what a great resource this is, especially in this tough job market. Serious thumbs up for MyWebCareer.com
Sidenote, my score is 773.

Students take their college virtual tours from Facebook Page with YourCampus360
Amplify’d from www.allfacebook.com
YourCampus360 is a virtual-tour online company focusing on connecting universities with prospective college students, and they have become the first of their kind to integrate their capabilities into schools’ Facebook pages. So far, it seems that a diverse array of institutions have incorporated the feature , including State University of New York at Stony Brook and Syracuse University.
The Facebook app is exceptionally easy to use for a student. Sitting comfortably among the tabs of the school’s page, the “virtual tour” takes the student to what is a essentially a replica of the virtual tours that YourCampus360 offers on the school’s official website. You can then choose to take a walking tour through campus, peek into classrooms, rooms, and other on-campus facilities, and also watch videos of the school.

Verizon preparing to say bye-byes to unlimited iPhone Data plan....ummm Hey AT&T about my contract..
Amplify’d from www.mobilecrunch.com
Read more at www.mobilecrunch.comThe operator currently offers a $30/month “unlimited” (but potentially throttled) data plan.
According to a Cellular News report, Shammo said “Why did we do the unlimited $30 plan on the iPhone? Well, the reason we did that was we didn’t really want to put up a barrier to anybody who wanted to come over and experience the Verizon Wireless network. So we felt it was important to go out at the $30.”

Facebook Factors into 80% of College Admissions. Clean it up kids!
Colleges and Universities are looking for more than just good grades and great SAT scores. They are looking for a well-rounded student that will be an effective and positive representation of their college or University.
One of the ways that you can represent yourself as such is by using Social Media, which could allow potential Universities and Colleges to see you beyond how you present yourself on a sheet of paper.
Negative Social Media can reflect very poorly and can sometimes eliminate your chance of entering into the college of your choice or even having your admission withdrawn AFTER YOU'VE BEEN ADMITTED. So it is very important to present yourself in a positive manner at all times.

Prospective college students, beware: There's yet another reason to make sure your Facebook profile is suitable for all. According to a Kaplan survey of college admissions officers, more than 80 percent of college admissions officers consider social media presence when recruiting students.
Although this doesn't necessarily mean that Facebook and other online profiles will be considered in making admissions decisions, All Facebook reports that at least one Harvard admissions officer -- who posted on a Quora thread in response to the question "do high school students' Facebook profiles affect their college applications?" -- said that a student's online presence "absolutely" prejudices her.
But applicants can turn their social media presence into an advantage.Read more at www.huffingtonpost.com

Don't Eat At App lets you "check-in" to see if a restaurant has been flagged for food inspection violations

Think That Restaurant Looks Shady? Donteat.at Lets You Know for Sure
It’s happened to everyone–the terrible fallout from eating at that unfamiliar restaurant with the spoons that were a little too greasy, or the chicken that was served a little too rare.
Max Stoller obviously knows the feeling.
To understand how the app works, one needs a little background.
In New York City, the health inspector grades restaurants on a golf-style points scale, where less is better.
More than 28 points will land the restaurant on a flagged list that triggers frequent inspections, or even a shut-down, if the score does not go down.
Stoller’s app, donteat.at, parses the weekly-updated public data set for those flagged establishments and keeps an updated list of violators.
Read more at voices.allthingsd.comFrom then on, if a donteat.at user ever checks in via Foursquare to a restaurant that has been flagged, they receive a text message alerting them to that fact.

Guilty pleasure American Idol will soon allow voting by way of our other guilty pleasure #Facebook
Amplify’d from mashable.com
You’ll soon be able to use a dedicated page on Facebook to vote for your favorites on American Idol.
Viewers and fans will be allowed to cast their ballots up to 50 times, as long as they vote during that broadcast’s designated voting period, according to Entertainment Weekly.
This new method of voting won’t replace the traditional toll-free telephone call or text message, but for Facebook users, it certainly sounds a lot easier than dealing with the plague of busy signals or spam texts we’ve experienced when using the other two voting methods on American Idol.Read more at mashable.com
